A stabbing rampage occurred in broad daylight at a shopping center in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, resulting in the deaths of five shoppers.

According to CNN and other foreign media on the 13th, the incident took place that afternoon at the Westfield shopping center in Bondi Junction, an eastern suburb of Sydney. Witnesses told local media that a man was chasing people around the shopping center while wildly swinging a knife.

According to local police, a total of six people, including the suspect, died from the stabbing. Australian ABC TV reported, citing a spokesperson from New South Wales Ambulance, that the suspect was shot by police.

Videos posted on local social media showed many ambulances and police vehicles arriving at the scene, with crowds gathered around the shopping center.
