Yuhan Corporation announced on the 12th that it conducted a volunteer activity on the 9th involving employees reading storybooks aloud for children from multicultural families who are not proficient in Korean.
This volunteer activity involved employees reading storybooks aloud, which were then used to produce audiobook storybooks that were donated to children from multicultural families who are vulnerable to reading difficulties. The 18 participating employees recorded their parts in Yuhan Media Center, a large studio equipped with professional facilities within the company, receiving voice training and pronunciation correction related to reading aloud from professional voice actors according to their respective roles.
The recorded voices of the employees were edited by experts and produced into audiobooks, which will be donated along with reading assistance devices (digital devices for listening to audio books) to the Dongjak-gu Family Center. Through this, children from multicultural families who have delayed Korean language acquisition due to difficulty having their parents read to them will be able to easily access books on their own using audiobooks, thereby creating a better reading environment. The storybook reading volunteer activity, conducted for the first time, will continue as a volunteer group of employees producing and donating audiobooks on an ongoing basis.
Employee Dohyeon Seong, who participated in the volunteer activity, said, "It was a bit awkward since it was my first time, but it was a meaningful and unique volunteer activity that I enjoyed participating in with my colleagues," and added, "Since it is an activity that helps children from multicultural families, I plan to join the volunteer group and continue participating in the future."
