A woman who poured acetic acid on her sleeping husband's face and wielded a weapon has been brought to trial in custody.
The Violent Crime Division of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Jae-hyeok) announced on the 12th that a woman in her 30s, identified as A, has been indicted in custody on charges of attempted murder.
A is accused of attempting to kill her husband by pouring acetic acid and wielding a weapon while he was sleeping, after being asked for a divorce by her husband while intoxicated.
It was revealed that A had prepared acetic acid and other items in advance to kill her husband. On the day of the crime, A wore goggles and gloves, poured acetic acid and boiling water on the victim's face to subdue him as he resisted, and chased the fleeing victim while wielding a weapon, indicating a planned attempt to kill the victim, according to the prosecution.
The prosecution stated, "We will respond strictly to ensure that the defendant receives appropriate punishment in the future."
