Over 200 Participants Including Gwangbok Members Attend to Inherit and Develop Proud History
The Gwangbokhoe Jeollanam-do Branch (Branch Chief Song In-jeong) announced on the morning of the 11th that it held the ‘105th Anniversary Ceremony of the Establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea’ at the Jeollanam-do Anti-Japanese Independence Movement Memorial Tower in Namak, Muan, Jeonnam, to inherit and develop the proud history of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
Under the theme “The Road to Dawn,” more than 200 people, including Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Lee Hyang-sook, Head of the Jeonnam Western Veterans Affairs Office, Kim Nam-yong, Head of the Jeonnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members, heads of veterans organizations, and Gwangbokhoe members, attended the ceremony to brighten the occasion.
The ceremony proceeded in the order of the national anthem, reading of the Provisional Charter of the Republic of Korea proclamation, historical report, commemorative speech, commemorative performance, singing of the Independence Army song, and three cheers of “Manse.”
In particular, two students from Mokpo Yeonghwa Middle School made the ceremony even more special by reading aloud the proclamation of the Provisional Charter of the Republic of Korea, the first constitution of the Provisional Government promulgated on April 11, 1919, along with its ten articles.
Additionally, students from the Practical Music Department of Dongshin University performed a commemorative show titled “Our Road Run Toward Independence,” expressing the historical significance of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and the footsteps taken together toward independence through song and performance, receiving enthusiastic applause from the attendees.
In his commemorative speech, Governor Kim Young-rok stated, “The Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was a strong focal point of the independence movement until liberation, widely publicizing the legitimacy of Korean independence to the world and actively carrying out armed anti-Japanese struggles. Going forward, we will continue to inherit and develop the spirit of ‘Uihyang Jeonnam’ and devote more effort to honoring independence patriots and veterans affairs.”
Branch Chief Song In-jeong emphasized in the historical report, “Let us all unite and move forward to become a stronger Republic of Korea, unwavering against foreign powers, by inheriting the historical significance of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and the noble spirit of sacrifice of the Provisional Government patriots who gave their lives for Korean independence.”
