A man in his 40s accused of causing the death of a woman in her 20s at an officetel in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, has been brought to trial.
On the 11th, the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kwon Nae-geon) announced that a man in his 40s, Mr. A, was indicted on charges of murder and detained.
According to the prosecution, a woman in her 20s, Ms. B, was found dead around 9:40 p.m. on the 14th of last month at an officetel in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. The police identified Mr. A as the prime suspect and tracked him down, making an emergency arrest at a comic book cafe in Guro-gu around 10:25 p.m. the following day.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A became acquainted with Ms. B through internet broadcasting. Mr. A, who reportedly has no specific occupation, is said to have a prior record of murder.
A prosecution official stated, "Considering the defendant's criminal history and psychological analysis results, we judged the risk of reoffending to be high and therefore requested an electronic monitoring order along with the indictment," adding, "We will do our best to maintain the prosecution so that the defendant receives punishment commensurate with the crime and respond strictly to violent crimes."
