Daejeon Dong and Western Education Support Offices announced that they have provided 18.669 billion KRW in early childhood education fees for the first quarter of this year to 18,905 children attending 242 public and private kindergartens.

Early childhood education fees support children aged 3 to 5 attending kindergarten, covering both the curriculum and after-school programs, with 150,000 KRW per month for public kindergartens and 350,000 KRW per month for private kindergartens. Starting from the 2024 academic year, an additional 50,000 KRW will be provided for the curriculum fees of 5-year-old children.

The free education period for the Nuri Curriculum (early childhood education fees and childcare fees) received at kindergartens and daycare centers cannot exceed three years. If a child who previously received daycare fees or home care allowances enrolls in kindergarten, the eligibility for support must be changed to early childhood education fees by applying through the nearest administrative welfare center or online.

Choi Jae-mo, Superintendent of the Daejeon Eastern Education Support Office, stated, “We will continue to strive to provide equal educational opportunities at the starting line of life and to reduce the financial burden of education for parents.”
