Baedal Minjok's delivery robot 'Dilly' won the main prize at an overseas design award for the second time following March.
Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 11th that the delivery robot Dilly received the main prize in the category at Germany's '2024 Red Dot Award.' It was recognized for its robot concept design that considers people and communicates with them.
Last month, Dilly also won the main prize at the '2024 IF Design Award,' achieving a double crown at overseas design awards. Germany's 'Red Dot Award' and 'IF Design Award' are considered among the world's top three design awards along with the United States' 'IDEA.' Last year, it also achieved awards at two domestic design competitions.
Dilly, Woowa Brothers' self-developed delivery robot, is equipped with autonomous driving technology that integrates with building security doors and elevator systems, covering both outdoor and indoor environments. Six wheels move independently to ensure stable movement even in narrow spaces.
Dilly is designed to coexist with people. It can communicate with various expressions and voices through front LEDs and TTS (text-to-speech). It is designed at about waist height for an average adult, considering convenience when placing and removing delivery items, and can open and close doors by itself. It can also notify users of its movement process through integration with the Baemin app.
Since October last year, Dilly has been deployed in the Teheran-ro robot street project, providing robot delivery services. Baemin explained that the operation period has been extended by one year until the end of this year to increase demonstration experience.
Han Myung-soo, CCO (Chief Creative Officer) of Woowa Brothers, said, "Dilly was developed to deliver while harmonizing with people and the environment through user-friendly design such as various facial expressions and voice expressions." He added, "Woowa Brothers will continue to showcase expanded delivery robot experiences based on technology and design."
