On the 9th (local time), the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported the story of twin sisters born in 1991 and adopted separately by two families in Shandong Province, eastern China. The older sister, Sun Ye, learned she was adopted at the age of seven, and when she turned 21, she discovered the existence of her twin sister and began searching for her. About ten years later, Sun Ye received the social media account of her sister from a neighbor of her sister. The neighbor introduced her sister Liu Yan, saying, "They look exactly alike." The two sisters lived about 90 minutes apart by car.

Upon seeing Liu’s photo, Sun immediately recognized her as her sister. After many twists and turns, Sun sent her photo to Liu, but the response was cold. Liu, who did not know she was adopted, suspected Sun of being a scammer who had altered her photo to look like her. However, Liu later heard the whole truth from her aunt and learned about the existence of her twin sister.

When they met for the first time in March 2022, they resembled each other so closely that they could unlock their phones using each other's facial recognition. Not only their appearance and voices but also their hairstyles and clothing preferences were similar. Additionally, both were raising sons, and both called their sons by the English name "Kevin." It was reported that the two women currently run their own women's clothing stores. Since their reunion, the sisters have introduced each other to their adoptive parents and maintained a close relationship. Sun said, "I regret that we couldn't grow up together, but I want to live the rest of my life happily." However, the sisters searched for their biological parents but were unable to find them.

Chinese netizens cheered the reunion of the two identical sisters, calling it "a destiny that had to reunite," "a miraculous event," and "luck to have found each other," wishing them happiness.
