Democratic Party's Park Suhyun Avenge Defeat Against Five-Term Jeong Jinseok in Just Three Attempts

Park Su-hyun, the Democratic Party candidate, defeated Jeong Jin-seok of the People Power Party, who was seeking a sixth term, and was elected as the National Assembly member for Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang in Chungnam.


According to the Central Election Commission on the 11th, Park Su-hyun secured 62,635 votes, confirming his victory with a margin of 2,780 votes over Jeong Jin-seok.


Having lost consecutively to Jeong in the 20th and 21st general elections, Park succeeded in avenging his defeat in their third contest.


Park said, "This election showed how formidable the seriousness of public sentiment is," adding, "If we do not regard the restoration of politics and the recovery of people's livelihoods as our top priority, we will face severe consequences once again."


He also emphasized, "I will strive to become not just a Democratic Party member of the National Assembly, but a representative of the people," and "With unity and harmony as driving forces, I will work to achieve the development of Gongju, Buyeo, and Cheongyang."
