"I will dedicate my soul to securing and attracting local budgets and national projects"
In the 22nd National Assembly election, Park Ji-won, the Democratic Party candidate who ran in the Haenam·Wando·Jindo district, was elected.
At 11 p.m. on the 10th, the vote count for the 22nd National Assembly general election in Haenam·Wando·Jindo reached 80.73%. Candidate Park received 58,383 votes, winning with 92.52% of the vote, far ahead of Kwak Bong-geun of the People Power Party, who came in second with 4,718 votes (7.47%).

Park Ji-won said, “I will uphold the will of the residents who overwhelmingly supported my election, hold the Yoon Seok-yeol administration accountable for its mistakes until the end, and ensure a change of government.”
He continued, “I will devote myself to securing and attracting regional budgets and national projects,” and pledged, “As a diligent member of the National Assembly in central politics, I will restore the pride of the people of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo.”
He added, “The Democratic Party will pay more attention not only to the livelihood economy but also to inter-Korean relations, China, the U.S., and Russia in diplomacy, and will become a ruling party to support the best reform, which is a change of government.”
Park Ji-won was born in Gogeun-myeon, Jindo County, graduated from Jindo Middle School, Mokpo Muntae High School, Gwangju National University of Education, and Dankook University. He served as the 16th president of the Korean American Association of New York and became a member of the 14th National Assembly through the Democratic Party’s proportional representation.
He has served as the Democratic Party spokesperson, senior secretary and spokesperson for public relations at the Presidential Secretariat of the People’s Government, Minister of Culture and Tourism, floor leader of the Democratic United Party, floor leader of the People’s Party, and the 35th director of the National Intelligence Service.
