Children Exposed Outside Moving Car, American Woman Min... Killed Cohabitant Just Before

8-Month-Old Baby Dies at Scene
Additional Crimes After Killing Cohabitant

A woman in her 30s pushed her 9-year-old child and an 8-month-old baby out of a moving car in Los Angeles (LA), USA, and then took her own life in an extreme act. Yonhap News reported, "On the 9th (local time), the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced this incident through a press release, stating that a family dispute led to two murders and a suicide."

According to the report, at around 4:30 a.m. the previous day, the suspect, Daniel Johnson (34), was driving a Porsche sports utility vehicle (SUV) on a highway in Culver City, western LA County, when he threw his two young children riding with him out of the car.

About 30 minutes after the incident, at around 5 a.m., Johnson died at the scene after crashing into a roadside tree while driving at over 100 miles per hour (161 km/h) near an intersection in Redondo Beach, midwestern LA County. He was alone in the car at the time, and the police believe he took his own life. The 8-month-old infant who was thrown from the car died at the scene from fatal injuries, and the 9-year-old child was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigations revealed that Johnson had killed Jayellen Channy (29), a man who was his brother-in-law, at his home just before driving out that day and was fleeing the scene.

At around 7:35 a.m. that day, neighbors became suspicious when the front door of a luxury apartment in an apartment complex in Woodland Hills, northwest LA, was open. Upon checking inside, they found a man dead and reported it to the police.

Four people lived in this home: Johnson, his two children, and Channy. The police stated that Johnson stabbed Channy with a weapon during an argument around 3:40 a.m., killing him. Although there had been no reports of domestic violence or police reports between the couple, neighbors testified that they heard noisy sounds from the couple’s apartment late at night.

Biological evidence was detected on the weapon found at the scene. The detailed circumstances of their dispute have not been disclosed.
