'Broad Moves' Yoon Closely Watching Election Results at Residence Today

19 Public Events from the 1st to the Previous Day

Presidential Office Awaits Voting Results in a Quiet Atmosphere

President Yoon Suk-yeol is reported to refrain from external schedules on the 10th, the day of the 22nd National Assembly election, and to monitor the vote counting situation.

According to the Blue House, President Yoon is said to stay at the residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul, without any external schedules on that day, while checking the election situation.

Earlier, shortly after his inauguration and during the main voting of the 8th nationwide local elections, on June 1, 2022, around 4:30 p.m., President Yoon took a walk around Cheongwadae in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This is quite different from his recent vigorous activities traveling across the country.

Recently, President Yoon has presided over meetings and briefings related to the economy and industry, attended the naming ceremony of the next-generation high-speed train, the opening ceremony of Pier 7 at Busan New Port, visited hospitals, and inspected illegal fishing by Chinese vessels, continuing his public activities daily.

Starting with the national address on medical reform and medical school expansion on the 1st, up to his visit to Bucheon Sejong Hospital the day before, President Yoon has carried out 19 public schedules.

As this general election is regarded as a mid-term evaluation of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, it appears that he will halt external schedules on the main voting day to monitor the vote counting situation.

On the first day of early voting, the 5th, President Yoon cast his early vote at the Myeongji 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Gangseo-gu, Busan, before attending the opening ceremony of Pier 7 at Busan New Port.

First Lady Kim Geon-hee also completed her vote at the Itaewon 1-dong early voting station set up at the Yongsan District Council on the same day.

The presidential office staff are quietly and calmly awaiting the voting results, and upon the announcement of the election results on the 11th, they are considering whether to issue an official statement under the spokesperson’s name in accordance with precedent.
