Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating a preschool sports team for about 500 children aged 5 to 7 attending local daycare centers.

The "Hotdul Hotdul Seoul Preschool Sports Team" is a Seoul city public project that connects sports facilities with daycare centers to form preschool sports teams and supports regular physical activities for children. It aims to help children develop healthy exercise habits during early childhood that can continue into adulthood, thereby improving physical fitness and fostering social skills.

The district links 11 local sports facilities with 22 daycare centers to provide free physical activity programs for growing children.

The program includes outdoor sports activities such as futsal and running, as well as indoor activities like Taekwondo and Hapkido. It also features various events that can attract children's interest, including musical jump rope, mat exercises, and preschool physical education.

Meanwhile, fitness assessments of children who participated in the "Hotdul Hotdul Seoul Preschool Sports Team" last year showed an 11% improvement in muscle strength, a 13% increase in agility, and a 44% enhancement in balance. Going forward, the district plans to continuously gather feedback from participants and stakeholders through ongoing communication and reflect it in the budget. Additionally, safety education will be conducted, and on-site guidance and inspections will ensure the program operates safely.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "I hope our children grow physically, emotionally, and socially through the preschool sports team," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create an environment where children’s bodies and minds can grow healthy and strong through various physical activities."
