Spring Energy Boost Fresh Foods Up to Half Price Discount
Special Prices on Seasonal Seafood like Bajirak and Kkomak
Emart is offering fresh foods that are good for revitalization in spring at up to half price.
Emart announced on the 10th that it will sell seasonal wild greens and seafood, fresh foods for spring, at up to 50% discount. The event period is from the 12th to the 18th of this month.
First, four types of seasonal spring wild greens (Gomchwi, Myeongi, Nungaeseungma, Chamdurup) will be sold at a 20% discount when Shinsegae Points are accumulated. With the Shinsegae Points accumulation discount applied, Gangwon Gomchwi pack and box (300g) can be purchased for 4,784 KRW and 7,984 KRW respectively, and Gangwon Myeongi pack and box (250g) for 4,784 KRW and 6,960 KRW respectively. Nungaeseungma (200g, pack) is offered at 4,784 KRW, and Chamdurup (pack) at 9,984 KRW.
Emart emphasized that despite adverse spring weather this year, it secured the largest volume ever through quick response. Until March this year, cold weather combined with frequent rain and snow led to poor production of wild greens. In fact, the release date of wild greens was about ten days later than last year. Accordingly, Emart prepared a record volume of 20 tons through farms nationwide.
Emart explained that wild greens are gaining popularity as their benefits are becoming known to customers interested in natural health foods. Wild greens such as Gomchwi and Chamdurup have a pleasant aroma and versatile uses, with each dish having its own unique character, making them good for stimulating the appetite in spring. They are also known to be rich in dietary fiber, calcium, potassium, and vitamins, which help relieve fatigue and improve blood circulation.
In fact, sales of wild greens in the spring season last April increased by about 18% compared to the same period the previous year. In 2022, sales also rose by about 15% compared to the previous year, marking double-digit growth for two consecutive years.
Popular seafood that helps with spring revitalization is also offered at up to 50% discount in collaboration with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. "Whole Family Prepared Sea Eel (700g, box)" is sold at 24,900 KRW with a 50% discount when Shinsegae Points are accumulated. Namhaean Cockles (1kg) are offered at 5,980 KRW, and prepared Clams (1kg) at 7,980 KRW.
Choi Woo-taek, Emart’s vegetable buyer, said, "We quickly secured seasonal fresh foods for spring that capture both taste and health, offering them to customers at affordable prices. Going forward, Emart will continue to plan various products prioritizing what customers truly need."
