Incheon City, together with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and the police, will develop improvement measures through on-site analysis of pedestrian fatal accident locations.
Although the number of traffic accident fatalities in the region is gradually decreasing, the city is determined to continuously reduce pedestrian deaths and create a safe city.
According to data from the Traffic Accident Analysis System of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, there were 7,695 traffic accidents in Incheon in 2022, a decrease of 217 cases compared to the previous year (7,912 cases). During the same period, the number of traffic accident fatalities was 95, down by 9 from 104 the previous year.
On the 9th, the city conducted a joint inspection with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and Bupyeong Police Station at the site of a pedestrian fatal accident that occurred last month, checking safety facilities, and plans to carry out joint inspections monthly going forward.
An official from Incheon City stated, "To create a safe city, we will continue to carry out traffic accident reduction campaigns in cooperation with related organizations."
