KOMCA explained that the purpose of the event is to revive the college song festival, which was once widely loved by the public, to revitalize campus culture that has been stagnant since COVID-19, and to discover talented musicians.

The college song festival is open to any student currently enrolled at a university in South Korea. Participants compete by performing original songs that showcase their musical talents through preliminary and final rounds.

The judging of the song festival will be conducted by a professional panel consisting of writers and composers affiliated with KOMCA, along with a nationwide public vote.

The final winners will receive prize money as well as mentoring opportunities from well-known domestic composers and lyricists.

Choo Ki-yeol, president of KOMCA, said, "The Korean music industry is more active than ever, entering an era of 50,000 music creators alongside the success of K-pop. Moving forward, to sustain this success and maintain the diversity of our music, more musicians must be continuously nurtured."

Before the college song festival, KOMCA also plans to promote a youth creative music festival for elementary, middle, and high school students in the first half of this year.
