Global game company Ubisoft, well known as the developer of 'Assassin's Creed,' has announced the withdrawal of its Korean branch.
Ubisoft Korea stated on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter) on the 9th, "As part of a global restructuring to respond to the rapidly changing game market, we have made the difficult decision to terminate the operation of our Korean branch."
Accordingly, Ubisoft plans to officially close its Korean branch on the 30th of this month.
The company said, "Since its establishment in 2002 as a small branch in South Korea, a country once considered a barren land for console games, we have played a small but meaningful role in helping console games grow in the Korean market and enabling Korean fans to enjoy localized games and gaming culture. Looking back on this, we feel immense pride and happiness."
It added, "The release of Ubisoft games, e-sports operations, and marketing activities in the Korean region will continue," and "Korean customer support and inquiry services will also be maintained as before."
Headquartered in France, Ubisoft is a global game company that owns many famous game intellectual properties (IPs) such as 'Rainbow Six' and 'Assassin's Creed.' Since last year, due to deteriorating performance, it has been conducting layoffs centered on its headquarters and Asia-Pacific branches.
