‘Pohang Mirae Forest Tree Planting’... Green Ecological City Creation Event Held Pohang Future Forest Tree Planting Event Poster.

This event was organized to increase citizen participation in tree planting and to create a sustainable green ecological city in Pohang with a promising future.

Citizens participating in the event will plant about 5,000 trees, including Japanese snowbell, cornelian cherry, crape myrtle, and azalea, along approximately a 1 km stretch of roadside from the Yugang Water Purification Plant in Nam-gu to the crosswalk in front of Yeonil Hyanggyo, creating a dense roadside forest.

The tree planting event will begin with pre-event performances such as a kindergarten choir by the riverside under the Cheolgilsup Sangsaeng Indogyo Bridge, followed by a tree planting performance. Then, participating groups, companies, and citizens will plant trees directly in designated areas together.

Citizens who participate in the tree planting event will receive free seedlings of persimmon trees, peach trees, and spring flowers, and promotional activities for the '20 Million Trees Life Tree Planting Campaign' will also be conducted.

The event plans to have diverse participation from public officials, institutions and organizations, schools, companies, and general citizens. Citizens who wish to participate in the tree planting event can visit the event site on the day wearing comfortable clothes and sneakers.

Kim Eungsu, head of the Green City Project Group of Pohang City, said, "For Pohang City to become a sustainable hub city of the East Sea Rim, it is important not only to attract new growth industries but also to create a green city where people want to live and visit." He added, "On Arbor Day, we hope many citizens will participate to make this a meaningful time to plant and nurture trees themselves."
