Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation delivered a donation of 30 million won to Gyeongbuk Province on the 9th at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office to overcome the low birthrate.
This donation is meaningful as it was gathered by all employees at the suggestion of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation Labor Union (Chairman Jeon Hee-chan) to participate in the ‘Donation Movement of Over 10,000 Won by All Citizens,’ a campaign promoted by Gyeongbuk Province to overcome the low birthrate.
The donation will be used for pilot projects to overcome the low birthrate, such as complete care and safe housing, through the Gyeongbuk Social Welfare Community Chest.
Kim Nam-il, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, said, “The low birthrate issue is beyond a population cliff crisis and raises concerns about local extinction. Since cooperation among residents, local governments, and businesses is essential, the corporation will actively participate.”
Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation plans to continuously discover and improve measures to overcome the low birthrate, such as increasing the marriage and childbirth congratulatory payments for employees (from 200,000 won to 500,000 won), expanding the discount on admission fees for families with two or more children at Gyeongju Expo Park (from 20% to 50%), and supporting family travel costs through the Carnival Camping Family Day.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “I appreciate Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, a representative public enterprise of Gyeongbuk, for joining us. The joint effort of labor and management to participate in donations and improve systems will serve as a good example of corporate-level efforts to overcome the low birthrate.”
Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation has been sincerely practicing sharing in times of community crises by independently raising a love-sharing fund every month with all employees, donating consolation money to wildfire victims in Uljin, and contributing to recovery funds for flood damage in Gyeongbuk.
