Gwangju Buk-gu, Recruitment of Resident Artists for Traditional Craft Culture School Residency

On the 9th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it is recruiting young artists to move into the residence space of the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School.

The residence space at the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School was newly established last year by Buk-gu on an area of about 60 pyeong to provide residents with creative and exhibition spaces and to promote local art revitalization. This recruitment of young artists is designed to support local youth creative activities and mutual exchange.


The recruitment fields include traditional art areas such as painting and crafts. Anyone aged 20 to 39 who has resided in Gwangju for more than three years, and who either works on traditional art in Gwangju or graduated from an art university located in Gwangju, can apply. Additional points are given if the applicant's address is in Buk-gu.


Selected resident artists will be provided with free use of the residence space on the 3rd floor of the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School for 10 months from next month until February of next year, and during the same period, they will receive support for operating one open studio and exhibition.


Youth artists interested in moving into the residence space can refer to the announcement posted on the Buk-gu Office website and submit their application forms and required documents in person or by mail to the Culture and Arts Division of Buk-gu Office during the two days from the 11th to the 12th.
