Publication of '60 Years of Chosun University of Science and Technology,' a Comprehensive History of Chosun University of Science and Technology

Chosun Institute of Science and Technology has published the "Chosun Institute of Science and Technology 60-Year History," which captures the milestones of its 60th anniversary and its future vision.

This "Chosun Institute of Science and Technology 60-Year History" details all the history of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology, which has emphasized character, technology, and employment since its founding in 1963, growing together with the local community for 60 years and establishing its status as a leading vocational college in South Korea, as well as its innovative vision toward becoming a 100-year university.

The 60-Year History of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology is composed of four volumes and one appendix, totaling 485 pages. Volume 1 comprehensively covers the history of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology divided into the foundational period, leap period, growth period, development period, and maturity period. Volume 2 contains the status of departments, including the history of each department and major. Volume 3 records the main institutions that have led university operations, such as the university itself, affiliated institutions, and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation. Volume 4 includes the history of the student council, student activities, and past presidents of the alumni association. The appendix records the history of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology by timeline, data-driven insights about the university, and a list of retired faculty members. The editorial committee for the 60-Year History was chaired by Moon In-seop, Director of Planning (Professor of ICT Convergence), with four editorial members, three advisory members, five writing members, and three administrative secretaries.

Chosun Institute of Science and Technology President Cho Soon-gye said, "This 60-Year History of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology is a local legacy that contains the passion and determination cultivated by all members of the university and the people of the Honam region from the moment of its founding to its 60th anniversary." He added, "It will serve as an important guidebook for creating the next 100 years as a glocal university, fostering pride in Chosun Institute of Science and Technology in partnership with the local community."

Moon In-seop, Chair of the 60-Year History Editorial Committee, stated, "This compilation activity was a meaningful time to confirm the significant 60-year history of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology and its clear vision as a leading vocational college in South Korea." He added, "I hope this work will not simply record the past of our university but serve as a starting point for reflecting on our present and a compass for moving toward the future."
