Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power held the 'Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Project Technology Information Exchange Meeting' on the 8th and 9th.
About 100 project stakeholders, including KHNP, regulatory agencies (Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Korea Nuclear Control Technology Institute), and designers participating in the dry storage project, attended the meeting to discuss various topics such as ▲the current status and plans of the pressurized water reactor spent nuclear fuel dry storage project ▲design concepts of dry storage facilities and containers ▲regulatory systems and safety measures.
This was the first time that stakeholders involved in the dry storage project gathered in one place, making it a meaningful occasion to exchange various technical information such as the design and licensing directions of dry storage facilities and containers.
Additionally, through this meeting, it was significant that the understanding of project stakeholders was enhanced and a communication system was established, laying the foundation for the dry storage project to be promoted more safely and efficiently in the future.
Starting from this meeting, KHNP plans to continuously share information regarding the progress and safety of the dry storage project with local residents around nuclear power plants and local governments, making every effort to ensure the project is carried out in a timely manner.
Hwang Ju-ho, President of KHNP, stated, “We will continue to prioritize the safety and peace of mind of local residents and do our best to create a more transparent and trustworthy dry storage facility.”
