According to the city, Mayor Lee stated in the letter, "For the smooth progress of the national industrial complex development project, the expansion of National Road No. 45, a major route for advanced IT talents and materials and logistics, is essential," adding, "An exemption from the preliminary feasibility study is urgent to expand the road by 2030, before Samsung Electronics' first fab in the national industrial complex becomes operational."

Mayor Lee said, "National Road No. 45, which runs through the national industrial complex, is a major road along with the semiconductor highway to be constructed in the future," and added, "If this road, which is currently experiencing severe traffic congestion, is not expanded promptly, traffic jams will become even more severe."

Earlier, in November last year, the government designated 690,000 pyeong in the Idong-eup area as the 'Idong Public Housing District' to serve as a new city supporting the national industrial complex, announcing a policy of 'prioritizing transportation infrastructure before residential development' to proactively expand transportation infrastructure.

Mayor Lee said, "President Yoon Suk-yeol presided over a public discussion held at Yongin City Hall on the 25th of last month and announced his position to swiftly proceed with the expansion project of National Road No. 45," adding, "Since the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also supports the exemption from the preliminary feasibility study for this project, I ask the Presidential Office to take an interest and assist the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in reviewing this matter."
