On the 9th, Alba Heaven, a job portal specializing in part-time jobs, announced that it conducted a survey on 'part-time workforce management' targeting 256 self-employed individuals. The survey results showed that 77.3% of the business owners experienced 'No show' during the hiring and working process of part-time workers, close to 8 out of 10.

No show refers to the act of suddenly not appearing at the promised or reserved time and losing contact. In the past, there was controversy over many no-show incidents where customers who reserved a restaurant did not show up on the reservation day.

The types of part-time no shows were most commonly ▲part-time job seekers who do not show up for interview appointments (79.3%) ▲part-time workers who do not show up on their first day after final acceptance (63.6%) ▲existing part-time workers who suddenly take unauthorized absences (52.0%).

Three out of four business owners (76.2%) answered that they have needed part-time workers who can start working immediately in urgent situations. The specific situation ranked overwhelmingly first was 'when existing part-time workers suddenly are absent, resign, or no-show (74.4%, multiple responses allowed)'.

Following that were ▲when a temporary workforce gap occurs due to personal reasons of existing part-time workers (44.1%) ▲when unexpected orders or customers flood in (11.3%) ▲before sales peak seasons such as anniversaries, holidays, and traditional holidays (11.3%).

Because of this, 'No show' is reported to be the biggest concern for self-employed people when hiring part-time workers. When 222 business owners were asked about their biggest difficulties in managing part-time workers, 'sudden no show or resignation of part-time workers' recorded a response rate of 82.0%, ranking first. Other difficulties included ▲adjusting part-time workers’ schedules (28.4%) ▲part-time workers’ negligence during work (25.7%) ▲calculating and paying wages such as night shift allowances and severance pay (9.0%).

Some business owners said they deliberately pay higher wages to prevent no shows. Among respondents, 17.9% answered that 'they pay a higher wage level to the part-time worker compared to existing part-time workers.'
