Hansol Paper announced on the 9th that its product Protego has obtained the 'Green Technology Applied Green Technology Product' certification from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Green technology certification is granted to technologies that save energy resources and use them efficiently to minimize greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions. Green technology products are awarded only to those that apply green technology in production while meeting all quality and performance standards.
Green technology is gaining attention from many companies pursuing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management recently, as it evaluates not only technological excellence but also eco-friendliness, including the efficiency and conservation of energy resource use and contribution to green growth.
Hansol Paper’s Protego is a special paper packaging material made using moisture and gas barrier paper manufacturing technology, providing high barrier properties that were difficult to achieve with conventional paper packaging, thereby enhancing the preservation of contents.
In particular, analysis using the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) method showed a 39% reduction in carbon emissions compared to existing products, recognizing its eco-friendliness.
Additionally, it can be separated and disposed of as paper after use, making it recyclable as paper raw material, which simultaneously acknowledges the resource recyclability and technological excellence.
Currently, Protego is expanding its market through collaborations with leading domestic food, distribution, pharmaceutical, and various franchise companies, and recently, it is also pursuing overseas expansion to countries such as Japan.
A Hansol Paper official stated, “We consider it meaningful that through obtaining this green technology product certification, our technological competitiveness as well as our efforts to reduce environmental impact have been recognized both internally and externally,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize eco-friendliness as the most important value and contribute to building a sustainable environmental ecosystem to fulfill our corporate social responsibility.”
