Application and Registration for 2nd Batch of New Foreign Workers Starting from the 22nd
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KSMBA) held a 'Employment Permit System and Foreign Workforce (E-9) Utilization Briefing Session' on the 9th at the KSMBA building in Yeouido.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced policies related to the introduction of foreign workers, including expanding the foreign workforce (E-9) quota from 120,000 to 165,000 this year and adding new industries to address labor shortages in industrial sites.
Additionally, the schedule for the second round of new foreign worker (E-9) employment permit applications and submissions for 2024 has been confirmed, with applications for approximately 42,000 foreign workers across all industries set to begin on the 22nd.
In response, the KSMBA organized the briefing session targeting foreign workforce managers from industry-specific small and medium enterprise cooperatives and organizations. The session covered ▲ current status of the employment permit system quota ▲ scoring table ▲ application schedule and methods ▲ improvements to the system this year, followed by a Q&A session with attendees.
Lee Myung-ro, Head of the Workforce Policy Division at KSMBA, stated, “Through this briefing session, we hope to actively promote information on the employment permit system and foreign workforce utilization to small and medium enterprises, helping companies that wish to employ foreign workers. We will also consider expanding the briefing sessions nationwide by assessing on-site demand.”
