Chicken University Practices Sharing for Underprivileged Groups Through Kind Donations
BBQ has continuously practiced sharing with underprivileged neighbors and has taken steps to spread a culture of coexistence.
The chicken franchise Genesis BBQ Group announced on the 9th that it shared approximately 3,000 chickens through the 'Chicken University Good Donation' during the first quarter of this year.
The Chicken University Good Donation is BBQ's representative social contribution activity that has been ongoing for 25 years since 2000. It involves prospective family members (franchisees) trained at 'Chicken University,' Korea's first franchise specialized educational institution located in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, preparing chicken to be donated to nearby welfare facilities. The Chicken University Good Donation is regarded as a model case of ESG management activities combining the food service franchise education business and social contribution.
Genesis BBQ Group donated approximately 3,000 chickens through the 'Chicken University Good Donation' during the first quarter of this year to spread positive influence.
From January to March this year, BBQ donated about 3,000 chickens over 34 occasions to a total of 21 facilities near Chicken University, including senior welfare centers, child welfare centers, disability welfare centers, and multicultural family support centers. The donated chicken is valued at approximately 60 million KRW.
A BBQ representative stated, "The Good Donation, which has been ongoing since the establishment of Chicken University, is a fundamental activity of Genesis BBQ Group's ESG management," adding, "We will continue to pay attention to those in welfare blind spots throughout society and fulfill our corporate responsibility by engaging in sincere donation activities together with society."
Meanwhile, in addition to the Chicken University Good Donation, BBQ conducts various donation activities for local communities, such as the 'Chicken Relay with Family,' where the headquarters provides fresh meat and families prepare and donate chicken, and the 'Visiting Chicken Relay' through the food truck 'BB-Car,' which visits remote island and mountainous areas.
