Selected 5 Elementary Schools Through Preliminary Survey... 15 Traffic Safety Instructors Assigned
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has deployed traffic safety instructors on the way home from elementary schools in the area. This is to create a safe route for children returning home from school.
The district previously conducted a preliminary survey targeting elementary schools and selected five schools with vulnerable traffic safety conditions.
A district official stated, "In addition to the five schools, we plan to conduct demand surveys for schools and parents in the second half of the year and select additional schools."
The assigned schools are ▲Changnim Elementary ▲Sungmi Elementary ▲Sinhwa Elementary ▲Changdo Elementary ▲Changnim Elementary, with a total of 15 traffic safety instructors deployed.
The traffic safety instructors meet lower-grade elementary students at school dismissal time (12 PM to 2 PM) and escort them to their residences. They also guide the children on traffic safety rules during the escort process.
Since being deployed in mid-last month, the program has shown effectiveness in preventing various safety accidents and child crimes, receiving strong support from parents. One parent said, "In these unsettling times, I used to worry a lot when I couldn't pick up my child, but now I feel reassured because of the traffic safety instructors."
The district plans to collect on-site feedback based on the actual activities of the traffic safety instructors and actively reflect it in future policies related to children's traffic safety.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "We will continue to deliberate and research to create safe school routes where parents can feel secure sending and picking up their children."
