Geumcheon-gu 'Carbon Neutrality Practice Challenge'... 30,000 KRW Mobile Cultural Gift Certificate Awarded

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate the 'Carbon Neutrality Practice Challenge' for residents aged 19 and over until May 31.

This initiative aims to raise awareness of the seriousness of the climate crisis among local residents, who are the key agents in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and to encourage them to practice carbon neutrality in their daily lives.

The 'Carbon Neutrality Practice Challenge' is a campaign to participate in achieving carbon neutrality by learning and practicing actions to reduce greenhouse gases.

Participants can join the ‘Climate Action 1.5℃’ app or website, then proceed to Challenge → Carbon Neutrality Challenge → 2024 Geumcheon-gu Carbon Neutrality Practice Challenge to certify their green lifestyle achievements.

The challenge operates in three areas: ▲ ‘Practice Diary,’ where participants certify their carbon neutrality actions with photos ▲ ‘Quiz,’ which teaches the importance of carbon neutrality ▲ ‘Information & Tips,’ where participants learn about carbon neutrality through comics and videos. Practice points are accumulated based on participation.

The ‘Practice Diary’ category consists of 10 daily life-related items: ▲ recycling separation ▲ food waste reduction ▲ use of reusable cups and shopping bags ▲ bicycle use ▲ public transportation use ▲ stair use ▲ zero-waste store use ▲ purchase of eco-labeled products ▲ participation in environmental events ▲ plant growing. Participants can certify practice photos via the app or website, earning 100 points per entry, with up to two participations per week.

The ‘Quiz’ category includes 5 questions about climate action and carbon neutrality knowledge and proper practices. Each question is worth 10 points, and participants can take the quiz once daily.

The ‘Information & Tips’ category awards 100 points per item for viewing comics or videos covering climate change and waste reduction.

At the end of the challenge period, 160 outstanding participants will be selected based on their final practice scores and awarded mobile cultural gift certificates worth up to 30,000 KRW.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope that the carbon neutrality challenge, composed of easily practicable items in daily life, will spread voluntary participation and a culture of carbon neutrality practice throughout the region.”

For more details, inquiries can be made through the Geumcheon-gu Office website or the Environment Division.
