Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on April 12th, from 2 PM to 8 PM, the 2024 Library Day commemorative event "Songpa-gu Library, Seeing Tomorrow" will be held at the Seokchon Lake West Lake.
To celebrate Library Day, the district planned a library event on the waterside stage of Seokchon Lake West Lake under the theme "Songpa-gu Library, Seeing Tomorrow" to promote library use among residents and share the joy of reading, organizing various reading culture events centered around books and libraries.
First, the "Library Day Ceremony" will be held at the Seokchon Lake Atelier. Starting at 3 PM with a congratulatory performance by "Haegum Groove," where you can feel the rhythm of Korean traditional music and jazz, the ceremony will proceed with awards for library contributors and other commemorative events.
Following that, from 3:30 PM, a "Book Talk" with Hwang Bo-reum, author of the popular Songpa-gu library loan book "Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookstore," will take place, and from 6:30 PM, a sand art performance titled "The World Met Through Sand" will offer a unique enjoyment.
Especially on the 12th, Library Day, the waterside stage plaza at Seokchon Lake West Lake will transform into an "Open Library." It is recommended to enjoy a book picnic on the grass steps while overlooking Seokchon Lake at the picnic zone set up near the waterside stage.
On this day, various "experience events" such as making your own mother-of-pearl bookmark, bookstands, famous painting frame mood lamps, and photo zones with books will be held at the Seokchon Lake West Lake waterside stage. Operating from 2 PM to 7 PM, a stamp tour will be conducted where participants complete missions at each event to receive a small souvenir on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additionally, until April 18th, during Library Week, 11 Songpa-gu public libraries will participate, offering side events that the whole family can enjoy together. Special programs by each library include escaping library overdue fines, macrame craft experiences, acrylic mood lamp making, meetings with authors, picture book stair exhibitions, and user-participation book curation.
The event is open to everyone, and for detailed information such as program registration, please refer to the Songpa-gu Integrated Library website.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "I hope everyone enjoys the fun of reading while feeling the spring atmosphere at the open library set by the lake," and added, "We will actively support Songpa-gu public libraries to provide various books and cultural events to revitalize the reading culture among residents."
