Annual Planting of Metasequoia Trees Along Jungnangcheon Walkway to Create a Premium Tree-Lined Street

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a Metasequoia tree planting campaign on the 8th along the walking trail near Jangpyeonggyo Rose Garden by Jungnangcheon Stream in collaboration with the skincare brand Clarins.

Clarins, Europe’s No.1 skincare brand, has been practicing responsible beauty by planting over 760,000 trees worldwide since 2011. Last year, they created the Clarins Garden by planting 1,000 trees including crape myrtle, azalea, and rhododendron around the tulip garden area of Jungnangcheon Stream.

The event was attended by the president of Clarins’ French headquarters, Korean staff, Dongdaemun-gu public relations ambassador actor Lee Jang-woo, Clarins university student supporters called ‘Clamy,’ and volunteers from the Dongdaemun-gu Volunteer Camp. They installed tree stakes and watered the Metasequoia trees to help them grow well near the Jangpyeonggyo Rose Garden area of Jungnangcheon Stream.

The district plans to hold an annual tree planting campaign with Clarins along Jungnangcheon Stream to create a premium Metasequoia tree-lined street extending from Jangpyeonggyo to Gunja Bridge.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “It was a more meaningful event as the president of the French headquarters participated to support and encourage our district’s carbon-neutral green growth.
