"Elect Candidate Shin, the Politician to Set the Republic of Korea Straight"
‘Icon of Political Reform’ Congressman Itanhee appeared at the campaign site of Shin Jeong-hoon, the Democratic Party candidate for Naju·Hwasun, to provide support.
On the afternoon of the 8th, two days before the April 10 general election, Congressman Itanhee visited the concentrated campaign rally for candidate Shin Jeong-hoon held in front of the Hwasun Dolmen Market to support him.
The congressman said, “I have met many citizens nationwide, but this is the first time I have seen such a unified voice in an election,” adding, “The current administration is not a true conservative government but simply an incompetent one. President Yoon Seok-yeol, who has spent 31 years shaking people down, has only killed people and has shown no ability to save lives.”
He continued, “When rulers ruin the country, Honam has always taken the lead in setting history right. In this early voting, Jeonnam had the highest turnout nationwide,” and added, “Especially in Naju·Hwasun, the turnout was higher than the Jeonnam average. Please elect the excellent politician Shin Jeong-hoon, who will restore the Republic of Korea by reflecting the earnest wishes of the citizens of Naju·Hwasun who want to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.”
He further stated, “Shin Jeong-hoon, who always gets the job done, is the politician who will judge the Yoon administration and decisively end the political tragedy of Korea.”
Congressman Itanhee worked together with candidate Shin Jeong-hoon in the 21st National Assembly’s Special Committee on Political Reform to push for electoral system reform and amendments to the Agricultural Cooperative Act. Having declared he would not run in the 22nd general election to maintain the semi-proportional representation system, Itanhee has been touring the country to support campaigns since the official election campaign began on the 28th of last month.
At the concentrated campaign rally that day, along with Congressman Itanhee, members of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly and Democratic Party councilors from Hwasun County and Naju City gathered to unite their efforts, attracting a crowd of about 500 people, including delivery worker Kim Jong-bae representing the citizens of Hwasun.
Candidate Shin Jeong-hoon said, “This general election will determine the direction of the Republic of Korea. It is the day to tell the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the People Power Party, who silence the people and incite hate and divisive politics, to ‘shut your mouth.’ Each of your votes will bring greater change to Hwasun. Your active conscience can change the future of Korea.”
He added, “Only by gathering your urgency and earnestness can we protect democracy and restore people’s livelihoods,” emphasizing, “I ask the people of Hwasun County to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, restore Korea’s dignity, and make this happen.”
He also appealed, “I, Shin Jeong-hoon, who fought against the harsh guns and knives of the Chun Doo-hwan regime, have always stood on the front lines protecting the lives of the people. I will stand at the forefront of the fight against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. Please give overwhelming support to Shin Jeong-hoon.”
Meanwhile, candidate Shin plans to hold his final concentrated campaign rally in front of Geumseonggwan at 5:30 p.m. on the last day of the official election campaign period, the 9th.
