On the 9th, marking his 100th day in office, Kim Seok-pil, Deputy Mayor of Cheonan City, is achieving tangible results in advancing current projects through hands-on field administration.


Deputy Mayor Kim, who officially began his duties after his inauguration ceremony on January 2nd, immediately visited key project sites such as the Cheonan Station expansion, the relocation site of Seonghwan Breeding Farm selected as the future mobility national industrial complex, the Soccer Comprehensive Center, and the R&D cluster district in Buldang-dong which includes the site for the National Institute of Dental Research, a presidential pledge project, to minimize any gaps in work.


As a result, he has established systematic strategies for priority projects including the establishment of the National Institute of Dental Research in Cheonan and attracting the Immigration and Foreigners Management Office around KTX Cheonan-Asan Station.


Additionally, he has demonstrated strong yet meticulous leadership by focusing administrative efforts on securing budgets for major ongoing projects such as the regular hosting of the K-Culture Expo, extending the GTX-C line to Cheonan, and relocating the breeding farm for the early commencement of the future mobility national industrial complex.


Beyond current projects, he continues to engage in in-depth considerations for Cheonan’s future.


To revitalize the local economy, he has secured investment agreements with leading domestic companies and chaired meetings of the Green Startup Town Steering Committee, dedicating efforts to discovering and nurturing future growth startups.

He is also actively engaging in dialogue with youth, a vital future resource for the region. For a youth-friendly city, he has listened to opinions from university students and local residents at the Anseo-dong University Street development site and is accelerating preparations for the '2024 University Harmony Festival' organized by 12 universities.


His quick judgment and responsiveness in major crisis situations have also stood out. Regarding the collective action of medical residents, he formed a public-private consultative body with emergency medical institutions and medical organizations to ensure measures minimizing medical service gaps. Furthermore, he is fully committed to establishing a safe city by hosting meetings with related agencies to prepare for and respond to various disasters.


Notably, he led negotiations with the taxi industry, which had conflicts over the recent expansion of call bus services in Jiksan-eup, achieving a dramatic resolution.


Deputy Mayor Kim Seok-pil stated, “Based on my administrative experience so far, I will focus on sustainable growth to stabilize people’s livelihoods and improve the progress and completeness of current projects. Moving forward, I will carefully oversee not only priority policies but also issues directly related to citizens’ lives.”


Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Kim Seok-pil is originally from Seocheon, Chungnam. He graduated from Gongju National University of Education High School and Chungnam National University, passed the local civil service exam in 2001, and has served as Director of Women and Family Policy at Chungnam Province, Planning Officer at the Planning and Coordination Office, Director of the Economic Office, and Director of the Low Birthrate and Health Welfare Office.
