Recruiting 200 People Until April 26

The Gyeongsangnam-do Scholarship Foundation is recruiting 200 university entrance scholarship recipients in 2024 and will provide each with a scholarship of 2 million won.

On the 8th, Gyeongnam Province announced that it will select scholarship recipients through the Gyeongnam-do Scholarship Foundation to support the stable life of university entrants and to discover and nurture local space talents.

According to the provincial scholarship foundation, Gyeongnam Province will select applicants who are graduates of high schools within the province and whose themselves and guardians have resided in the province for more than one year as of the announcement date.

Additionally, applicants must have an average grade within level 4 in two subjects among Korean, English, and Mathematics in the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), or an average grade within level 4 in three subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics, and Social Studies/Science in the first semester of the third year of high school.

The income criteria require applicants to belong to households with recognized income at or below 70% of the median income, qualifying as legal low-income groups such as recipients of the 2023 Gyeongsangnam-do Education Support Voucher Project, basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, or those eligible for elementary and secondary education expense support.

The provincial scholarship foundation explained that it will expand the scope of scholarship beneficiaries this year.

It added that students in educational blind spots who face difficulties in studying due to sudden economic hardship, family accidents, or illness, as well as children of employees of small and medium-sized enterprises or small business owners within the province, will be given priority selection within a 20% quota.

Applications for the scholarship can be submitted from the 8th to the 26th by submitting the required documents to the administrative welfare center in the applicant’s residential town or township.

Detailed information on scholarship applications and selection can be found in the announcement posted on the Gyeongnam Province website and the city/county websites.

In addition to providing university entrance scholarships, the Gyeongsangnam-do Scholarship Foundation plans to support short-term overseas training for university students and provide scholarships to enrolled students at local universities this month.

Choi Man-rim, Vice Governor and Chairman of the Scholarship Foundation, said, “We will ensure that no student gives up studying due to economic difficulties in the province, and through scholarship support, students can realize their dreams and hopes and contribute to the development of the local community.”
