Operation of Customized Programs Reflecting Resident Demand Survey Results for Outdoor Yoga, Basketball, Climbing, etc.
Utilization of Gu's Unique Terrain Features and Operation of High-Quality Sports Programs Specialized in Professional Sports Fields
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate a customized sports program called 'Nowon Fit.'
The 'Customized Sports Program Nowon Fit' focuses on residents' needs according to their life cycle. Unlike previous programs such as 'Our Neighborhood Park Health Center' and 'Healing Walking Class,' which improved residents' access to exercise through bodyweight exercises and park fitness equipment, this program specializes in professional sports disciplines.
The sports programs operated under Nowon Fit include ▲basketball ▲outdoor yoga ▲outdoor Pilates, prioritizing popular sports based on the results of last year's 'Resident Demand Survey.'
The programs will be held from April to December on designated days and times according to the characteristics of each sport.
First, the basketball class, which started on April 1, is held three times a week from 8 PM to 10 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Sanggye Community Sports Center. Classes are divided by gender and age into groups for men in their 20s-30s, men in their 40s-50s, and women in their 20s-30s, teaching basic and advanced basketball skills.
The Pilates and yoga classes, held at Galmal Neighborhood Park and Winter Neighborhood Park, take place twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 PM to 8 PM. Since these classes are conducted outdoors, participants need to bring their own yoga mats.
Additionally, responding to requests for unique programs, the district plans to sequentially open trekking (hiking) classes utilizing the natural environment of Bulamsan and Suraksan mountains, as well as a sports climbing experience class using the artificial climbing wall at the Suraksan Danggogae area.
All programs are free of charge, and residents who wish to participate can apply by filling out the form (Naver Form) posted on the Nowon-gu Office website's participation board. Each class will recruit 15 to 40 participants on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the class characteristics.
Meanwhile, the district is actively encouraging residents to engage in physical activities by visiting neighborhoods. Utilizing parks as health resources, it operates a mobile physical activity equipment rental service called 'Exercise at Nowon Store.' A 1-ton truck carrying 52 types of new sports equipment circulates through eight major parks in the area, lending exercise gear and conducting physical activity programs.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, stated, "Sports activities are the best welfare directly connected to residents' healthy lives," adding, "In the era of 100-year lifespans, we will promote various projects to support the healthy aging of our residents."
