Applications Open Until May 7 for Elementary, Middle, and High School Students Living or Studying in Dobong-gu
Five Contests Including Dobongsan, Dobong-gu Symbols, and Dobong-gu Characters
Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has brought back the 'Dobong Sock Design Drawing Contest,' which received great enthusiasm from local residents last year, on an even larger scale this year.
The 'Dobong Sock Design Drawing Contest' was held for the first time last year to increase residents' interest in socks, a representative industry of Dobong-gu. A total of 1,765 entries were submitted, demonstrating its immense popularity.
In particular, the winning drawings were made into socks and showcased at the 'Join Us! Dobong Small and Medium Enterprises & Sock Sale Festa' event, receiving great response and attention from residents.
This year, the eligibility for participation has been expanded to encourage more involvement. Not only elementary school students residing in or attending school in Dobong-gu but also middle and high school students can participate.
The contest themes are ▲ Dobongsan Mountain ▲ Symbols of Dobong-gu (Iris flower, Ginkgo tree, Crane) ▲ Dobong-gu characters (Hakbongi, Eunbongi) and catchphrases ▲ The beautiful seasonal scenes of Dobong ▲ Other imaginative expressions of 'Dobong' where I live, totaling five themes.
The submission period is from April 11 to May 7. Those wishing to submit their works should visit or send by registered mail the original artwork and completed application form to the Regional Economy Division of Dobong-gu Office.
The artwork specifications and format require A3 drawing paper including the sock design template, and the designated template must be used. The template and application forms can be downloaded from the notices section on the Dobong-gu website.
Prizes will be awarded to a total of 50 participants divided into elementary school students (grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6) and middle and high school students: 5 grand prize winners, 10 excellence awards, 15 merit awards, and 20 encouragement awards. The results of the judging will be announced today, June 5. The award ceremony will be held in June along with an exhibition of the works.
The winning works will be exhibited on the first floor gallery of Dobong-gu Office during July and August and at the 'Dobong Sock Sale Festa' event held in September. Additionally, awardees will have the opportunity to participate in the 'Dobong Sock Design Fashion Show.'
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Many excellent works were submitted in the contest held for the first time last year, raising high expectations for this year’s contest,” and added, “I hope everyone will freely and creatively express their interest and love for Dobong through sock design drawings again this year.”
