Kangwon Land to Hire Record 200 New Employees, Welcomes Talent from Closed Mine Areas

Future Enhancement 'K-HIT Project 1.0' Initiative
Recruitment Focused on Closed Mine Areas and Socially Considerate Groups

Kangwon Land is launching the largest recruitment of new employees since its establishment. On the 7th, Kangwon Land announced that it will hire 200 new employees, including 190 casino dealers and 10 administrative staff, as well as 3 experienced employees such as prevention management counselors. This is an increase from the initial recruitment target of 160 new employees announced earlier this year.

This large-scale recruitment by Kangwon Land actively supports the government's job expansion policy and reflects the commitment to creating new jobs announced on the 2nd through the 'K-HIT Project 1.0' for advancing into a global integrated resort. In the future competitiveness enhancement plan 'K-HIT Project 1.0' envisioned by Kangwon Land, K stands for Korean, H for High1, I for Integrated, T for Tourism, and 1.0 signifies a new beginning.

The goal of K-HIT Project 1.0 is to "revitalize the economy of the mining-closed areas and lead South Korea's tourism industry as a global K-integrated resort." The detailed objectives include increasing the non-casino revenue ratio from 13% to 30%, raising the number of visitors from 6.8 million to 12 million, and expanding foreign tourists by more than 1000%, among others. The new employment target is set at 3,400 people.

Kangwon Land plans to select 44 socially disadvantaged candidates in this new employee recruitment. Of the remaining 156 candidates, half will be chosen from local talents originating from mining-closed areas such as Jeongseon-gun, Taebaek-si, Yeongwol-gun, and Samcheok-si in Gangwon Province; Mungyeong-si in Gyeongbuk Province; Boryeong-si in Chungnam Province; and Hwasun-gun in Jeonnam Province. Applications can only be submitted through the Kangwon Land recruitment website and will be accepted until 4 p.m. on the 22nd. Kangwon Land plans to announce the final results in July after document screening, written tests, and interviews.

A Kangwon Land official stated, "This recruitment will be conducted as a blind hiring process based on the National Competency Standards (NCS). Applicants must be careful not to include any personal information such as birthplace, age, or alma mater that can identify themselves."

Meanwhile, distribution companies pursuing 'workforce efficiency' are reducing the scale of open recruitment for new college graduates and increasing the hiring of internship-to-employment linked positions or experienced employees on an as-needed basis. According to Yonhap News Agency, a distribution industry official said, "Training a new employee costs tens of millions of won per person and requires at least one year," adding, "Due to the rapid changes in the e-commerce market caused by the Chinese platform invasion, there is a growing emphasis on hiring experienced personnel who can respond swiftly."
