Jeonnam Voter Turnout Highest Among Metropolitan Local Governments Nationwide at 41.19%
Shinan, Gokseong, and Jangseong Exceed 50%... Gwangju Ranks Third Nationwide at 38%
In the early voting held ahead of the 22nd National Assembly election scheduled for the 10th, the enthusiasm in Gwangju and Jeonnam was intense.
According to the National Election Commission on the 7th, the cumulative early voting rate over two days from the 5th to the 6th was highest in Jeonnam at 41.19% among the 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide. Out of a total of 1,565,232 registered voters, 644,774 participated in the voting.

In particular, Sinan-gun recorded a voting rate of 54.81%, ranking first nationwide. Gokseong-gun (50.51%) and Jangseong-gun (50.04%) also showed voting rates above 50%, with one out of every two voters completing their vote.
The Gwangju area also recorded a final early voting rate of 38%. Out of a total of 1,199,920 registered voters, 455,962 visited early voting stations. Compared to the early voting rate of 32.18% in the 21st general election, this is an increase of 5.83 percentage points.
Specifically, Dong-gu had the highest rate at 41.35%, followed by Nam-gu at 40.1%, Buk-gu at 38.72%, Seo-gu at 38.60%, and Gwangsan-gu at 34.5%.
Meanwhile, the overall early voting rate this time was 31.28%. Out of a total of 44,280,011 registered voters, 13,840,943 participated. This is the highest rate among all general elections where early voting was applied. In the 20th general election held in 2016, the rate was 12.19%, and in the 21st general election, it was 26.69%. Compared to all elections, it ranks second after the 2022 presidential election (36.93%).
The main voting for the 22nd National Assembly election will be held on the 10th.
