Early voting for the 22nd National Assembly election was underway when early voting was halted for about 3 minutes due to equipment failure in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam.
According to the Seocheon-gun Election Commission and residents, around 5:25 p.m. on the 6th, early voting was stopped for about 3 minutes at the early voting station in Maseo-myeon, Seocheon-gun, due to a fingerprint recognition error. The election commission rebooted the system and then resumed voting.
An election commission official stated, “The rebooting time, including connected devices such as the roster search terminal and laptop, caused a brief pause of about 2 to 3 minutes before resuming.”
A resident said, “Due to the machine malfunction, residents were unable to cast their early votes and were directed to places like the Culture and Arts Center.” He added, “After a delay of more than 5 minutes, voting resumed and was completed.”
