Early Voting Rate Nears 30%... 29.67% as of 5 PM on Second Day

Final Early Voting Rate for the 21st General Election Exceeds 26.69%
Highest in Jeonnam 39.63%, Lowest in Daegu 24.23%

On the second day of early voting for the April 10 general election, the cumulative turnout rate approached the 30% mark.


The National Election Commission announced that as of 5 p.m., the turnout rate was recorded at 29.67%. Among the total 44,280,011 eligible voters, 13,135,999 had cast their votes during the early voting period that started at 6 a.m. the previous day.


This is 4.72 percentage points higher than the turnout rate at the same time during early voting for the 21st general election in 2020 (24.95%). It has also surpassed the final early voting rate of 26.69% for the 21st general election. This early voting rate is expected to set a new record for the highest early voting turnout in the history of general elections.

The region with the highest turnout so far is Jeonnam (39.63%), followed by Jeonbuk (36.83%), Gwangju (36.15%), and Sejong (34.61%).


The lowest turnout was recorded in Daegu at 24.23%. Jeju followed with 27.17%, and Busan with 28.11%.


In the metropolitan area, Seoul had the highest turnout at 30.76%, followed by Incheon at 28.47%, and Gyeonggi at 27.90%.


Early voting will continue until 6 p.m. today. To participate in early voting, voters must bring their identification and visit an early voting station.


A total of 3,565 early voting stations have been set up nationwide. The locations of voting stations can be checked on the National Election Commission’s website or by calling the representative phone number.
