Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is scheduled to make a week-long state visit to the United States from the 8th to the 14th, the Japanese government announced on the 5th.
On the 10th (local time), Prime Minister Kishida will hold a summit meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C., and attend an official dinner. On the 11th, he will participate in a joint session of the U.S. Congress and hold a trilateral summit meeting between the United States, Japan, and the Philippines with President Biden and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
He will then travel to North Carolina to visit local Japanese companies and meet with Japanese language learners.
Additionally, he is scheduled to have lunch with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi explained the purpose of the North Carolina visit, saying, "We want to convey that the bilateral relationship is supported by a broad range of people, not only in the capital Washington, D.C., but also in the regions."
