On the 5th at 2 PM, Oh Seung-rok, the mayor of Nowon-gu, Seoul, attended the 79th Arbor Day commemorative event titled "Let's Plant Trees for Our Environment" held around Bulamsan Healing Town and the Cheonsu Garden area of Bulamsan in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
This tree-planting event took place at Bulamsan Healing Town and the upper area of Cheonsu Garden, which had been damaged by a forest fire. About 350 people participated, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Kim Jin-ha, head of L'Occitane Korea, Jin Seon-pil, deputy director of Apoco, city and district council members, and local residents. The event proceeded with an opening ceremony, introduction of guests, greetings, and tree planting with resident participation.
The tree species planted were ▲Cornus officinalis (50 trees) ▲Styrax japonicus (50 trees) ▲Padus racemosa (50 trees) ▲Cornus kousa (50 trees) ▲Rhododendron mucronulatum (1,000 shrubs) ▲Pieris japonica (1,000 shrubs), prepared with sponsorship from the French naturalistic brand L'Occitane, which is leading efforts in biodiversity and environmental conservation.
The area to be restored through this project covers a total of 10 hectares.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "I thank everyone who joined the first step of planting one million trees to advance Nowon as a carbon-neutral leading city," and added, "I hope this tree-planting event serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of forests and raise awareness about environmental pollution and climate change issues."
