2.63 Percentage Points Higher Than Last General Election
Seoul Nears 11.03% Average Rate
As of 3 p.m. on the first day of early voting for the 22nd National Assembly general election on the 5th, the voter turnout rate was recorded at 11.1%.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 3 p.m. on that day, out of 44,280,011 eligible voters nationwide, 4,922,548 participated in early voting.

This figure is 2.6 percentage points higher than the 8.5% recorded at the same time during the last general election. However, it was slightly lower than the 12.3% turnout during the last presidential election, which was the highest in nationwide elections to date.
By region, Jeonnam recorded the highest turnout rate at 17.7%. Jeonbuk followed with 15.7%, Gwangju 14.2%, and Gangwon 13.0%. The Chungcheong region also showed higher than the national average, with Sejong at 11.6%, Chungbuk at 11.5%, and Chungnam at 11.4%.
In the metropolitan area, Seoul was close to the average at 11.0%, with Incheon at 10.2% and Gyeonggi at 9.9%. Daegu recorded the lowest turnout at 8.7%, less than half of Jeonnam's rate. Busan recorded 10.5%, Ulsan 10.1%, and Daejeon 10.4%, all below the average.
