CJ CheilJedang has launched ‘Haechandle 100% Sun-Dried Korean Rice Gochujang with Reduced Sodium.’ As the third ‘Wellness Jang’ product from Haechandle, it lowers sodium content by about 25% while maintaining the clean spiciness of ‘100% Sun-Dried Gochujang.’ Although there is a growing trend of consumers seeking low-sodium products for health reasons, there has been a perception that reducing sodium in jang (fermented sauces) compromises taste. To deliver the same taste quality as traditional gochujang while lowering sodium, CJ CheilJedang applied its unique ‘NFT (New Fermentation Tech) fermentation method.’ This technology ferments raw materials such as rice and onions simultaneously, producing the natural umami of gochujang even at relatively low salt levels.
