Gyeongnam Nonghyup Communicates with Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe and Young Farmers

‘Gyeongnam Community’ Launch Ceremony Held

Gyeongnam Nonghyup held the launch ceremony of the ‘Gyeongnam Community’ on the 5th at Miryang Solaroot Farm.

At the launch ceremony, Gyeongnam Nonghyup Director Jo Geunsu, Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe Provincial Chairman Yang Chajeong, Miryang Branch Chief Lee Sanghun, Sangnam Nonghyup Cooperative President Kang Jeonghwan, along with Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe provincial executives, members of the Nonghyup Young Farmers Officer School Federation, and young farmer award recipients attended.

The event marked the launch of the ‘Gyeongnam Community,’ a platform where Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe, young farmers, and Nonghyup communicate together to acquire knowledge necessary for settling in farming, support farming education, and activate exchanges between young farmers and local communities.

The ‘Gyeongnam Community’ combines both product communities and regional communities.

The ‘Product Community’ is centered around leaders by product type (strawberry, tomato·paprika, garlic), where young farmers request advice from members on various problems encountered during farming work. Members then propose solutions based on their knowledge, and the questioner applies the method that suits them to solve the problem.

This is part of Gyeongnam Nonghyup’s new young farmer capacity-building project that supplements the shortcomings of the mentor-mentee program, which only allowed referencing one opinion. In addition, various education necessary for agricultural management such as finance, distribution, and marketing will be conducted together, not just agricultural technology.

The ‘Regional Community’ focuses on young farmers’ adaptation to rural society and the formation of human networks by organizing city and county communities composed of Saenongminhoe, local young farmers, and local Nonghyup. It is a new Nonghyup-type human exchange community that activates communication between young people and rural communities and enhances understanding of Nonghyup projects.

At the launch ceremony, Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe executives and young farmer award recipients also shared their farming experiences and know-how with junior young farmers.

Young farmer Seong Yeonjae said, “Exchanging farming techniques with Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe members is very helpful, and since Nonghyup is providing a place to form various human networks in the region, I think I will be able to enjoy a more vibrant rural life in the future.”

Yang Chajeong, Chairman of Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe, said, “We will inherit the Saenongmin spirit of independence, science, and cooperation and pass on advanced farming techniques and generous know-how to junior farmers.”

Director Jo Geunsu said, “I deeply thank the members of Gyeongnam Saenongminhoe who take time out of their busy farming schedules to pass on farming techniques to junior farmers for the development of young farmers,” and added, “Gyeongnam Nonghyup promises to support young farmers in various ways for their stable settlement in farming, leading the future of agriculture and rural areas.”
