Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is promoting various tourism policy projects this year to create a "Cultural Tourism Together, Coexisting Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun."
Recently, there has been a noticeable trend of preferring travel destinations that are less crowded rather than famous tourist spots. Cheongsong-gun, certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark, attracts visitors as a representative stay-type tourist city with its long history and tradition reflected in numerous old houses and a clean ecological environment created by various geological phenomena.
In line with tourism trends, Cheongsong-gun plans to revitalize the local economy by promoting cultural tourism policies that highlight the characteristics of Cheongsong-gun through various large and small tourism projects as it advances into a stay-type tourist city.
In particular, it has devised a strategy to create a new standard for regional tourism that meets the increased tourism demand by integrating the differentiated clean nature of the "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun," its historic traditional culture, and fresh and diverse cultural tourism content.
First, through projects such as the "Jusangji Tourist Site Development Project," "Hanok Stay Project," and "Alley Economy Recovery Support Project," it plans to increase foot traffic and revitalize the local economy.
Especially by establishing "unique accommodations" equipped with hotels and glamping sites, it aims to encourage younger generations and family travelers to stay longer in the area. Additionally, by improving the environment of the "Dalki Mineral Spring Street" and diversifying its menu, it plans to expand the scope of Cheongsong-style tourism projects through diversified tourism policies that also satisfy tourists' tastes.
Moreover, Cheongsong has plans to establish the Cheongsong Outdoor Golf Course and park golf courses in Jinbo-myeon and Sannam areas, which can support local residents' leisure activities and health. This will provide a space for tourists to enjoy Cheongsong’s pristine nature without traveling far, establishing it as a cultural tourism experience destination that satisfies many people.
Cheongsong will lead tourism revitalization by utilizing the representative "Cheongsong Apple Festival." The 18th Cheongsong Apple Festival to be held this year will enhance the brand value of Cheongsong apples by incorporating unique features and colors of the festival, preparing the best apple festival worthy of Cheongsong-gun’s name value.
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, "We will do our best to create 'Cheongsong-gun, Korea’s Best Cultural Tourism City,' where sights, activities, and food coexist and the breath of people harmonizes, and to increase jobs for local residents to achieve practical regional economic revitalization through tourism."
