"Even Local Convenience Stores Accept Online Orders"... Naver Launches Neighborhood Supermarket Shopping Service

'Neighborhood Supermarket Shopping' is a service that delivers orders from nearby local marts within about 2 hours based on the orderer's address. It offers delivery of various fresh foods and groceries, as well as daily necessities, pet supplies, and home appliances.

When users place orders through Naver Shopping, the orders are received via an application programming interface (API) linked with Retail & Insight's neighborhood supermarket order brokerage service 'Tomato,' and delivery is made using the local mart's infrastructure. The 'Neighborhood Supermarket Shopping' service is starting with 137 stores mainly in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gyeongbuk, and Daegu regions. The number of local marts participating is expected to expand to 400 nationwide within this year. Since Retail & Insight collaborates with about 2,000 local marts, it is anticipated that a more dense delivery network can be established.

Naver plans to support the digital transformation of local mart merchants through 'Neighborhood Market Shopping.' It will waive sales-linked commissions for one year and support the production of shopping live short-clip content that reflects the unique characteristics of local marts. It will also collaborate with local governments on promotional campaigns to help attract regular customers.

Kim Pyungsong, the lead manager in charge of Naver Shopping, said, "We are continuously expanding our shopping portfolio by broadening our collaboration network with local marts following large marts, department stores, convenience stores, and traditional markets," adding, "This will provide local marts with an opportunity to expand contact points with neighboring residents and secure online competitiveness."
