On the 3rd, the Uijeongbu Police Department in Gyeonggi Province announced that a woman in her 30s, identified as Ms. A, was found dead around 10:20 a.m. the previous day (the 2nd) in a flower bed of an apartment complex in Singok-dong, Uijeongbu City. According to the police investigation, Ms. A was confirmed to be a Grade 7 public official affiliated with Uijeongbu City Hall, and no evidence of homicide was found at the scene.
It was confirmed that Ms. A had taken a day off that day. The bereaved family claims that Ms. A had suffered from depression for a considerable period due to workplace harassment and ostracism before her death, and that this led to her making an extreme choice.
In response, Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu City, expressed condolences for Ms. A and ordered a thorough investigation by the relevant departments. On the afternoon of the 3rd, he visited the deceased’s funeral site to offer condolences to the family, and on the morning of the 4th, he convened an emergency meeting with department heads including the audit officer. Currently, the police and Uijeongbu City are investigating the exact circumstances of Ms. A’s death.
