The Department of Nursing at Changwon Moonsung University, which had been engulfed in anxiety after several full-time professors resigned all at once, has finally resolved the shortage of faculty members.
The Department of Nursing at Changwon Moonsung University announced on the 4th that it has filled the full-time professor quota of 11, the standard set by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education, by hiring 2 professors on the 1st of last month, 5 professors on the 18th, and newly appointing 2 professors on the 1st of this month.
Previously, in February last year, 5 out of 10 full-time professors in the Department of Nursing at Moonsung University resigned all at once, and in February this year, 3 more professors submitted their resignations, leaving only 2 full-time professors just before the start of the semester.
Although the university announced recruitment for full-time professors, hiring repeatedly failed, raising concerns that the department might not be able to undergo the nursing education accreditation evaluation scheduled for the second half of this year. This led to worries that students enrolling from the 2026 academic year might be unable to take the national nursing examination.
Current students expressed anxiety over the possibility of not being able to earn graduation credits due to missed classes, which would disqualify them from taking the national exam.
With the recent replenishment of full-time professors, it is reported that academic operations, including classes, are proceeding smoothly in the Department of Nursing at Moonsung University.
Following the securing of full-time professors, Moonsung University plans to improve department operations and take other measures to pass the nursing accreditation evaluation in the second half of the year.
