Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on the 4th, "Deliberately manipulated fake news incites hatred and conflict and threatens the foundation of democracy."

On the afternoon of the same day, at the celebration of the 68th Newspaper Day, Prime Minister Han said, "This year, a super election year with elections held in various countries, fake news can cross borders and significantly influence elections in other countries."


Prime Minister Han added, "In the flood of information produced by various media and artificial intelligence (AI), it is very difficult to discern the truth, and a great social cost is consumed in the process of verifying information and upholding truth and justice. The most problematic issue is fake news utilizing new technologies."


He continued, "The government has been making various efforts to establish proper norms for AI and data with this awareness of the problem. We will do our best to manage elections so that the will of the people is not distorted by fake news in the upcoming general election."
